O you (Yaa Ayyuha) Mantled fellow (El'Muddatthir)*,
74:2
get up (Qum’) and (Fa) warn (Anzir')
74:3
and (Wa) then (Fa) magnify (Kabbir') your LORD (s) (Rabba-ka), (17:111)
74:4
and (Wa) then (Fa) purify (Tohhir) your clothes (s) (Thiyaaba-ka),
74:5
and (Wa) then (Fa) avoid (Eh'jur') filth (Er'Ruj'za),
74:6
and (Wa) do not (Laa) wish for (Tam'nun) more (Tas'tak'thir),
74:7
and (Wa) so (Fa) be patient (Es'bir') for (Li) your LORD (s) (Rabbi-ka).
74:8
And (Fa) when (Izaa) the trumpet (En'Naaquuri) is blown (Nuqira Fii),
74:9
then (Fa) that (Zaalika) day (Yaw'maizin) will be a difficult (Äsiir) day (Yaw'mun)
74:10
for (Älaa) the disbelievers (El'Kaafiriina), it will not (Gai'ru) be easy (Yasiir).
74:11
“Leave ME (Zar'nii) with (Wa) whom (Man') I (God) have created (Khalaq'tu) alone (Wahiidaa),
74:12
and (Wa) to whom (Lahu) I have granted (Jaäl'tu) extensive (Mam'duudaa) wealth (Maalan)
74:13
and (Wa) children (Baniina) to be witnessed (Shuhuudaa),
74:14
and (Wa) I have made facilitation (Tam'hiidaa) easy (-Mahhadttu) for him (Lahu);
74:15
thereupon (Thumma) he desires (Yat'mau) that (An') I (God) should increase (Aziid). (74:6)
74:16
“Nay (Kallaa)! Indeed, he (Innahu) has been stubborn (Äniidaa) to (Li) Our verses (Aayaati-naa).
74:17
“I (God) will (Sa) escalate (So'uudan) his burden (Ur'hiqu-hu).
74:18
“Indeed, he (Innahu) pondered (Fakkara) and (Wa) estimated (Qaddar).
74:19
“And (Fa) how (Kai'fa) he estimated (Qaddar) was to oppose (Qutila),
74:20
and (Thumma) how (Kai'fa) he estimated (Qaddar) was to oppose (Qutila);
74:21
so (Fa) he observed (Nazor)
74:22
and then (Thumma) frowned (Äbasa) and (Wa) scowled (Basar),
74:23
and then (Thumma) turned back (Ad'bara) and (Wa) became arrogant (Es'tak'bar)
74:24
and (Fa) said (Qaala), ‘This (Haazaa) is only (In' illa) traced (Yu'thar) sorcery (Sih'run).
74:25
‘This (Haazaa) is only (In' illa) the word of a human (Qaw'lul' Bashar).’
74:26
“I (God) will burn him (Sa Us'lii-hi) in hellfire (Saqar).”
74:27
And (Wa) what (Maa) will make you (s) know (Ad'raa-ka) what (Maa) is hellfire (Saqar)?
74:28
(the fire) neither (Laa) remains (Tub'qii) nor (Walaa) leaves (Tazar),
74:29
it scorches (Lawwaahatun) the skin (human) (-Lil' Bashar).
74:30
Over it (Älai'haa) are nineteen (angels) (Tis'äta Äshar).
74:31
And (Wa) We have only (Maa illa) assigned (Jaäl'naa) Angels (Malaaikatan) as the Custodians of the Fire (39:71) (As'haaba En'Naari), and (Wa) We have only (Maa illa) made (Jaäl'naa) their number 19 (Eddata-hum') as a trial (Fit'natan) for those who (Lillaziina) disbelieve (Kafaru'); so that (Li) those who (Ellaziina) were given (Uutu') the Book (El'Kitaaba) will be convinced (Yas'tai'qina) and those who (Ellaziina) have believed (Aamanuu') will increase (Yaz'daada) in faith (iimaanan), and those who (Ellaziina) were given (Uutu') the Book (El'Kitaaba) and the believers (El'Mu'minuuna) will not (Laa) mistrust (Yar'taaba), and (Wa) that (Li) those (Ellaziina) in (Fii) whose hearts (Quluubi-him) is disease (Maradun) and the disbelievers (El'Kaafiruuna) will say (Yaquula), "What (Maazaa) does GOD intend (Araada-llahu) with (Bi) this (Haaza) example (Mathalan)?" Thus (Kazaalika) does GOD (Ellahu) send astray (Yudillu) whomever (Man) HE wills (Yashaau) and guides (Yah'dii) whomever (Man) HE wills (Yashaau). And (Wa) none (Maa) knows (Ya'lamu) the soldiers (Junuuda) of your LORD (s) (Rabbi-ka) except (illa) HIM (Huwa); and (Wa) it (Hiya) is only (Maa illa) a remembrance (Zik'raa) to the human (Lil' Bashar).
74:32
Nay (Kallaa)! By (Wa) the moon (El'Qamar),
74:33
and (Wa) the night (Ellai'li) when (Iz') it escapes (Ad'bar),
74:34
and (Wa) the morning (Es'Sub'hi) when (Izaa) it appears (As'far).
74:35
Indeed, it (Innahaa) is (La) one (Ih'daa) of the major (El'Kubar)
74:36
warnings (Naziiran) to the human (Lil' Bashar);
74:37
for (Li) whoever (Man) among you (Minkum') wants (Shaa'a) to (An) advance (Yataqaddama) or (Aw') stay behind (Yata-akkhar).
74:38
Every (Kullu) soul (Naf'si) will be a hostage (Rahiinat’) by what (Bimaa) it has earned (Kasabat')
74:39
except (illa) the Companions of the right side (As'haabal' Yamiin),
74:40
in (Fii) gardens (Jannaatin), asking each other (Yatasaa'aluun)
74:41
about (Äni) the criminals (El'Muj'rimiin),
74:42
"What (Maa) put you (p) (Salaka-kum') in (Fii) hellfire (Saqar)?"
74:43
They (the criminals) will say (Qaalu'), "We were (Naku) not (Lam') of (Mina) those who were prayerful (107:4-5) (El'Musolliin),
74:44
nor (Walam') did we (Naku) feed (Nut'emu) the poor (El'Mis'kiin),
74:45
and (Wa) we used to (Kunnaa) engage (6:68) (Nakhuudu) with (Maä) those who engaged (El'Khaaidiin),
74:46
and (Wa) We used to (Kunnaa) deny (Nukazzibu Bi) the Day of Judgement (Yaw'mi-d'Diin)
74:47
until (Hattaa) the certainty (102:5) (El’Yaqiin) came to us (Ataa-naa)."
74:48
Therefore (Fa) the intercession (2:48) (Shafaa'ätu) of the intercessors (Es'Shaafieen) will not (Maa) benefit them (Tanfau-hum').
74:49
So (Fa) why are they (Maa La-hum') turning away from (Mu'ridiin Äni) the reminder (73:19) (Ettaz'kirati),
74:50
as if they (Ka'annahum') were alerted (Mus'tanfira’) donkeys (Humurun)
74:51
fleeing (Farrat') from (Min) the lion (Qas'wara’)?!
74:52
In fact (Bal'), every (Kullu) person (Em'ri'i) among them (Min'hum') wants (Yuriidu) to (An) be given (Yu'taa) spread out (Munasshara’) pages (Suhufaan).
74:53
Nay (Kallaa)! But (Bal) they do not (Laa) fear (Yakhaafuuna) the hereafter (11:103) (El'Aakhira').
74:54
Nay (Kallaa)! Indeed, it (Innahu) is a reminder (Taz'kira’),
74:55
so (Fa) whoever (Man) wills (Shaa'a) should remember it (Zakara-hu),
74:56
and (Wa) none (Maa) will remember (Yaz'kuruuna) unless (illaa An) GOD wills (Yashaa'a-llahu). He (the human) (Huwa) must be qualified (Ah'lu) for piousness (Ettaq'waa) and (Wa) qualified (Ah'lu) for forgiveness (El'Mag'fira’).
