IslamAwakened has been asked to add commentary to our Today's Ayat
This is today's comment:
We understand forgiveness, and how to ask for it,
and to a lesser extent, how to give it.
Less often do we understand the ways we are prey to others;
ways that may be due to the sickness of another,
or ways that are a dark response to our efforst to improve.
When we strive to get right in our lives, with our Creator's help,
there are those who will do everything they can to waste our time,
and most won't even know why they do it, what forces are pushing them.
This is an OPINION.
We must always read the verse(s) for ourselves!

In Lieu of Today's Ayat for Monday, 2018-09-17 / 07 Muharram 1440
Do American Muslim immigrants have any idea of the pain and trauma they cause Muslim converts by racism?
If you don’t know, it’s then it’s unfortunate, may Allah open your eyes. If you know, yet prefer to remain in denial, then Allah has blinded you to the truth, if you know, and can see it right before your eyes, but choose to do nothing, say nothing, but still demand that America respects you, accepts you as an equal, then you do not know America at all.
There are good, God fearing, socially conscious people in this land. I do not believe that our country will ever fully accept a Muslim America headed by arrogant, racist, leaders who champion civil rights but deny black Muslims the dignity that the demand for themselves.
The American Muslim convert community has been nearly completely overrun, marginalized, and left to die out by America’s immigrant Muslim Communíty. [read the rest on the blog at this link]
So.
You still want that ayah?
O men! Behold, We have created you all out of a male and a female, and have made you into nations and tribes, so that you might come to know one another. Verily, the noblest of you in the sight of God is the one who is most deeply conscious of Him. Behold, God is all-knowing, all-aware.
-- al-Hujurat 49:13 as rendered by Muhammad Asad

IslamAwakened has been asked to add commentary to our Today's Ayat
This is today's comment:
Most of us have a "past"
It is easy to fall into dispair, thinking that our past is a permanent shackle
but we have an infitnitely merciful Creator
and our past is a mere speck to Him.
If we get right in our lives, with our Creator's help,
the past that weighted us down can become our reminder going forward.
This is an OPINION.

The believers, as well as the Jews, the Sabeans and the Christians: all who believe in God and the Last Day and do righteous deeds, will have nothing to fear and they will not grieve.
-- al-Ma`idah 5:69 as rendered by Safi Kaskas

IslamAwakened has been asked to add commentary to our Today's Ayat
This is today's comment:
One definition of courage is "fear that has said its prayers"
When we read the Qur'an and see references to fear,
we need to realize the difference between fear/awe of Allah
vs. worldly fear of people and events.
If we are right with our Creator,
worldly fear will take a back seat to doing the right thing.
This is an OPINION.
We must always read the verse(s) for ourselves!

These it is that shall receive a twofold reward for having been patient in adversity, and having repelled evil with good, and having spent on others out of what We provided for them as sustenance,
-- al-Qasas 28:54 as rendered by Muhammad Asad

Those times we have to endure with patience
bring double rewards.
Yes, we we be rewarded in the next life for our efforts,
but we are also rewarded HERE in the lessons we learn.
Each test increases us in strength and knowledge
